Many wondered how huge business establishment such as Coca Cola, H&M.,
and McDonald to name a few manage their massive information systematically and
efficiently. Well I was about to discover about it when I attend the Management
information System (M.I.S.) class. This module provides an in depth view of
management system in handling business information and how it affect the
business domain across the globe.
The objective of learning this module became clearer after the first
lecture which enlightens all the important dates, lecturers, tutors,
assignments and assessments along the learning period. Module expectation’s was
explained in detail at the early stage enabling us to prepare mentally to meet
the required expectation. Throughout the semester I have sit for the online
test, produce group’s video assignment and last but not least prepare a
reflective journal as required by module. Touching on the online test, it
helped me a lot ascertaining own weakness thus overcoming it accordingly. For
the group’s video assignment, we are assigned into a group of five persons. My
group is made up by Azra Zahra, Ng Zi Xiang, Zhi Qi Tham and Mandy Tan
alongside of me. We were able to produce the video within a period of two-days
only with the efforts put in by all members. This type of assignment requires
all of us to be even more creative. The early expectations being explained at
the beginning of the semester had contributed to the short period required in
producing the video. Having Dr. Choo Wou Onn and Dr. Ho Ree Chan, both
well-educated and have vast experience in teaching surely an added advantage
for us.
M.I.S. is embedded as one of the learning modules for the second
semester. The module is provided in the first year in order to prep us well in
advance on the know-how of managing the information systems in business, thus
providing guidance in what kind of tools or methods engaged in managing it efficiently.
Advancement of online technology nowadays provide a medium of which enables
business establishment performance’s to be significantly improved. Being
interconnected to the whole wide world opened up opportunities for
establishment to conduct their business globally without boundaries at cheaper
cost. Setting that aside, opportunities comes with its own challenges.
As a conclusion, the module prepared made me understand management
information systems better and make me realized how important the system is when
you own a business. This module is very useful as it helps me to understand the
nature of business more.
